Submission Guidelines

nimble is poor.  Thus, to our great shame, we are currently unable to pay contributors.  Rest assured, however, as a solution to this sad predicament is being brainstormed by the greatest minds this journal employs.

nimble defines "flash" fiction as prose of less than 1,000 words in length.  We ask that poetry not exceed 30 lines per poem.  Artwork constitutes photography, paintings, drawings, cartoons, Etch-A-Sketch creations - most anything, really.

Now accepting dramatic piecesnimble is proud and excited to be accepting one act plays.  While strict guidlines such as word length cannot be estabished for such works, we ask that One Act plays keep in mind the essence of this journal, which is, in a word, brevity.

We accept submissions in each of the following categories:

  • Flash fiction
  • Short poetry
  • One act plays
  • Artwork
We are open to almost any type of writing within those categories.  Specifically, we are looking for work capable of standing alone in its extreme brevity; work that is short in length but voluminous in content.

Note: We would prefer not to see erotica or horror, as we are very impressionable, and will likely not read or view it.

Make sure that you include the following information in your submission:
  • Name
  • E-mail address
  • Title of work
  • The category in which you are submitting
  • Word count
  • A flash (55 words maximum) biography
Paste your submission into a PLAIN TEXT e-mail message addressed to submissions@thenimblefew.com.  Artwork submissons, in JPEG or GIF format, should be attached to an email and addressed to submissions@thenimblefew.com.

nimble requests permission from its authors and artists to include their submissions in the issue of nimble for which it was submitted and nimble's online archives after publication.

Submission Notification:

All works are given the utmost attention.  Works selected for inclusion into the forthcoming issue will be sent email notifications two weeks before publication.  Rejected works will also be sent email notifications, usually a week before publication, briefly outlining the reason for their rejection.  If a piece is not accepted for the current issue the editors may ask permission to publish it at a later date, but understand completely if the writer or artist isn't willing to wait.
